Dutch practice NL architectshas developed proposal for a chain of hotels in 2014, with a design that takes its form from that of a precious gemstone. Intended to promote the supposed healing qualities of an amethyst – a precious stone consisting of a violetvariety of quartz – the building appears sliced in half, revealing the seemingly natural forms inside. Internally, the hotel’s accommodation is placed around a large void, with access to each room organized along the outer perimeter. The inner layer is then formed by crystall ineclusters that organically frame the interiors. The first amethyst hotel isplanned for ocean flower in china, a man-made is land currently under development in the sea north of Hainan.
