项目概况:
The new Shanghai Natural History Museum with an area of 44,517sm is designed by Perkins+Will and located at the Sculpture Park in Jing’An District. The museum has achieved China Green 3-Star certification. The museum iscomprised of three levels above grade and two levels below grade. Overall, volumetrically two thirds of the museum is below grade. The museum rises up asa spiraling landscaped plane surrounding an oval pond, its shape recalling theharmonious forms and proportions of a nautilus shell, one of the purestgeometric forms found in nature. Within this spiraling plane is an ovalcourtyard containing a stepped garden comprised of rock formations and water inthe tradition of the Mountain Water Garden. The courtyard provides stunningviews and serves as the main orientation focus for visitors inside thebuilding. The ‘living’ east wall is vegetated to symbolize the forests. Thenorth wall is made of stone to suggest shifting tectonic plates as well ascanyon walls eroded by rivers. The façade where the main entrance resides isfully glazed to create a visual connection with the outside. The façade withinthe building’s spiral, referred to as the ‘cell wall’, is comprised of acurtain-wall layer, a structural layer and a sun-screen layer. A series ofsustainable strategies are incorporated by Perkins+Will in the building design. An all-encompassing green roof is used for rainwater collection and reuse.Water features provide evaporative cooling for the outdoor courtyard gardenswhile geothermal systems are used extensively for building heating and cooling.Passive and active sun-shading methods are employed throughout andhigh-performance glazing is used to maximize energy efficiency. Fly-ash mix isincorporated into the structural concrete as a sustainable feature. Solarpanels, photovoltaics, skylights, high efficiency light fixtures and low-flowtoilets are also incorporated.
