high line park is constructed on the reclaimed elevated road of an abandoned freight railroad on the west side of manhattan and a wonderful example of recycling industrial urban detritus into a useful community resource. diller scofidio +renfro, chief designers, remained the existing above-street-level railway, and added elements of modernized rocks which formed the sharp contract in colors and styles. keeping the steel framed structure of railway, to grow plants in the above-street railway, to install the glass guard bars and at the same time, to set up some mini open stages and resting areas. a wide variety of plants were grown between twenty avenue and twenty two avenue in west shrubs to uninterruptedly provide the abundant colors through the year, while the shorter plants, such as sedge and shade-tolerance bushes, emphasized the space change from the grass to the bush. stair-steeping seats, made by the recycling woods, would lift the visitors into the air and enjoy the beautiful scene. the high line park started from the long and crooked slightly passageway until hudson river. the footpath of the park bends along the railway and the green plants were grown near the benches, which improved the overall landscape.
