The auditorium in Ravello by Oscar Niemeyer
Key:Italy | Large building

项目概况:
the auditorium in ravello designed by "father of brazilian architecture" oscar niemeyer is located in ravello, salerno, off south italy’s coast. the all-white curvaceous auditorium gives the festival in ravello and other local cultural events the place to avoid disruption by inclement weather, which is a "work of art" and as such it can only enrich the area’s cultural heritage. the auditorium is set amongst its luxuriant rocky hillsides and against the backdrop of the refined amalfi coastal town’s awe-inspiring brilliant blue sea and endless open skies. the site chosen was a steeply sloping plot in a crook of the via della republica, which offers stunning panoramas along the coast. the roof is a sweeping arch of concrete and the stage cantilevers out towards the sea. another distinctive feature of the curving venue is the eye-shaped window is built into its southeastern facade next to the stage. through this opening, the audience can have an unencumbered view of the shimmering water, while at the same time listen to the music or watch the performance taking place on stage. the stage can be manipulated to three different levels and is "designed to blend and become one with the foyer".
