Completed in 1992, the Kunsthal designed by Rem Koolhaas located in the Museumpark neighborhood of Rotterdam, is more of a cultural center that it is a museum. Situated along Maasboulevard, an expressway on top of one of Rotterdam’s largest dikes, the 3,300 square meter museum serves as a bridge between the busy expressway and the museum park to the north. The exhibition rooms are connected continuously by the ramp, corridor or stair together. A pedestrian ramp separates the building vertically which also connects the city and the park. Along the external building provides the public space, as part of the whole route of theart exhibition. Another ramp going down is parallel with the route and the intersection of the two parts is used as the building’s main entrance. Naturally when visitors end their visit, they arrive in the outdoor garden, which provides a good vision. This building is a combination of a variety of materials, including the metal, translucent glass, wood and stone, which also can be expressed through its unconventional structure.
