Rural Historical Recovery Forum & Guming Village Contest Award Ceremony Successfully Held
Nov. 27th afternoon, Rural Historical Recovery International Forum & Guming Village Contest Award Ceremony organized by Metrostudio and sponsored by Guangxi Guming Village Tourism Investment Co., Ltd and School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Shenzhen University was successfully held in the International Conference Hall, Normal College, Shenzhen University. Around 360 people including famous designers , experts, scholars from Italy, Austria, China and related people from the landscape and architecture field had attended the international academic forum.

Mr. Qin Li was the host of the forum and introduce the forum background and guests: Mr. Antonio Inglese, Metrostudio Founder, President & Chief Designer; Mr. Eugene Zhang, Metrostudio Director & General Manager; Mr. Lyon Tan, Metrostudio Director, Design Director; Mr. Wei Zhuang, General Manager of Guangxi Guming Village Tourism Investment Co., Ltd; Mr. Zhong Dekun, Dean of School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Shenzhen University & Doctor of University of Nottingham; Mr. Wu Jiahua, Professor of School of Architecture & Urban Planning, Shenzhen University & Doctor of University of Sheffield; Ms. Maria Auböck, Professor of Munich Academy of Art, Germany & Partner of Auböck & Kárász Landscape Architects; and Mr. János Kárász, Partner of Auböck & Kárász Landscape Architects; Mr. Carmelo Baglivo, Founder of Baglivo Negrini Architects; Mr. Yang Guang, Vice-president of Coastal Group; Mr. Xu Qibing, President of Yatouhang.

Next, Mr. Antonio Inglese, Wei Zhuang and Zhong Dekun respectively gave the short speech, giving the best wishes and highly appreciate and hoping through the competition platform, we can take more people's attention on the protection of traditional culture.

In the lecture of SIX PROJECTS , through six different projects practices including the hospital design, old factory reformation, campus lab design, theater design, campus in the war, health center design), Mr. Carmelo Baglivo discussed how to find a way in the insulation between space and individual; meanwhile he also answered how to take into deep consideration on the human settlement and social functions and form the interpretation of Genetic architecture. “ Actually, because of this kind of interpretation, the empty is over the entity and social spaces create landscape.”

In the lecture of DESIGNING TIME, REFLECTING TRADDION, Ms. Maria Auböc and Mr. János Kárász, through the topics of TIME: A BUILDING MATERIAL, REFLECTING TRADITION, LANDSCAPE URBANISM, TYPOLOGICAL EXPERIMENTS and RURAL: LOCAL AND GLOBAL, they talked about that time as an important material of building can be used in the design; should consider the needs of different social groups and mix them in one design; to inherit the historic culture and innovate and design in the limited conditions. Their lectures won warm applause from time to time.

Award Ceremony
Guming Villege Design Competition started from July and around 588 students from 158 universities have attended this competition. And after the selection, 78 works were shortlisted in the competition. The jury members included Maria Auböck, János Kárász, Carmelo Baglivo, Wu Jiahua, Tang Hua and Antonio Inglese. Mr. János Kárász as the Chairman hosted this competition. After the selection and discussion of the six juries, 9 works and 1 video were shortlisted. The winners were also announced on the Ceremony and given the prizes and certificates.
