The project adjacent to Wuyuan Bay Business Operations Area aims to establish an important communication platform with Taiwan, and also services for the national strait tourism and as the permanent site of the National Tourism Fair and the main venue for the Xiamen marathon. The entire project is a large complex including a five-star hotel, tourism and convention center, Ferry Terminal Phase 3 facing to Jinmen island, comprehensive office building, SOHO, large commercial facilities, the main venue of the marathon race, outdoor leisure square, etc.
From the existing city scale and landscape, we have made a comprehensive analysis on the status of the entire land in this whole region and the building features. “Fujian near the sea, the city along the coast, the street is on the sea” would be the three levels to explain regional characteristics of Fujian and Taiwan culture, multi-functional buildings, and the open space near the coast, at last, we get a vision that is “New city New coast”. Then we find an excellent way to extract the sea culture and Fujian cultural landscape elements, collecting and coexisting of the multi-functions and also study the complex traffic caused by the collection and distribution of the passengers. The difficulty in this case lies in we use different vertical transportation contacts to combine the spaces and use the landscape elements to elaborate the architecture and landscape linked by the storey platforms, the independent but close relationship between the ground floor and the story platform.
