The Oasis of Alento River embraces a 28 sqkm surface, a natural resenve that has been certifcated as SIC (Communitarian Importance Site) by the European Union, in 1992, for its biodiversity peculiarities. The focal point of the area is the Alento River, that passes through the landscape crossing different habitats and forest reserves typical of Mediterranean vegetation.The most important human creation is the Alento Dam, a water pole that represents a perfect equilibrium between nature and architecture. Our proposal takes care of the existing contidions of the site, introducing new elements that make the nature really appealing. 4 landscape main areas and 11 biological corridors, linked by 1 big net of paths, are the main goal of this river park, in order to gather together culture, sport, entertainment, education and relax. The proposal tries to reconnect the fragments of landscape through an ecological system that protect the agriculture and renews the isolated urban areas.
